"My name's J. I'm awkward and black. Someone one two me those are the two worst things you can be". This introduction is the unique premise that has turned online comedy series The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl into a YouTube sensation.
Each episode of The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl charts the daily embarrassments, disappointments and dilemmas of its central character, J, played by producer, director and writer Issa Rae.
The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl is Rae's third web series and is tipped for big things. Already Rae has signed a deal with UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment to turn the show into a cable half-hour comedy.
