While debt, deficit and credit downgrades sweep the US and Europe, Nigeria is reaping the benefits of its ongoing banking reform.

To mark the progress made and discuss the future of Nigeria's economy within a global framework, THISDAY (publishers of ARISE magazine) have coordinated a special meeting as part of the 2011 IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings programme.

Entitled Nigeria: Beyond the Banking Reforms, the event will focus on the global financial crises and ask two important questions: what are the lessons? and what are the next steps for Nigeria and Africa?

Confirmed speakers include Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Nigeria; Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi; and the new CEO of AMCON, Mustapha Chike-Obi. Questions will be fielded by Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.

Nigeria: Beyond the Banking Reforms will take place on September 22 in Washington DC.
