ARISE magazine is proud to present our fourth show at New York Fashion Week - Spring 2012 Designer Collective IV: Made In Africa.
Our first NYFW show in 2009 saw Grace Jones walk alongside models Liya Kebede, Alek Wek, Lara Stone, Tyson Beckford and Behati Prinsloo, wearing creations by XULY Bët, Stoned Cherrie, Tiffany Amber and Momo. This season, seven of Africa’s most innovative fashion designers will take centre stage. We have a very special musical guest in store for guests too.
The designers taking part in ARISE Magazine’s new Made In Africa collective are KLûK CGTD, Pierre-Antoine Vettorello, Jewel by Lisa, Tsemaye Binitie, Lanre Da Silva, Asibelua and Bunmi Koko.
The show will take place on September 15 at 5pm in Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center.

KLûK CGTD
The creation of South African duo Malcolm Klûk and Christiaan Gabriel Du Toit, KLûK CGTD has become a favorite among celebrities including Beyoncé, Charlize Theron and Rachel Weisz since its inception back in 2003. The award-winning line features bespoke, ready-to-wear and bridal collections, as well as furniture and homewares.
Bunmi Koko
Since launching in 2009, Bunmi Koko has caught the attention of Michelle Obama, Catherine Middleton and Nelson Mandela. The emerging label specializes in ready-to-wear, evening and bridal pieces. Founder Bunmi Olaye has previously worked with Anne Fontaine, Harrods, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Allison Rodger and Alexander McQueen.
Pierre-Antoine Vettorello
After honing his skills at Balenciaga and Lagerfeld Gallery, French/Ivorian Vettorello is officially launching his label for Spring/Summer 2012. His work has been featured in Vogue Italia online, Dazed Digital and Marie Claire Belgique, and he won the Innovative Design award at ARISE Magazine Fashion Week – Lagos 2011.
Asibelua
After the success of her fashion label Momo, Fati Asibelua has launched her own eponymous new line for the global arena, Asibelua. Educated in Milan and London, Nigerian designer Asibelua created Momo in 2000 and its USP remains her unique printed textile designs.
Jewel by Lisa
Jewel By Lisa makes its second appearance for ARISE Magazine at this season’s New York Fashion Week. The line, founded by Lisa Folawiyo, is best known for its ankara fabrics, hand-embellished with sequins, Swarovski crystals and beads. Celebrity fans include Kelis, Solange Knowles, E! presenter Catt Sadler and Kendall Jenner.
Tsemaye Binitie
After gaining an invaluable stint on Stella McCartney’s design team in 2004, Nigerian-born Tsemaye Binitie launched his namesake label in 2009. His most recent collection was inspired by his muse, his mother – as well as his long-standing inspiration, the glamour of Versace circa 1980s.
Lanre Da Silva
Largely inspired by 1940s designs, Lanre Da Silva creatively combines patterns, prints and traditional fabrics in her collections. For Spring 2012, Lanre Da Silva reinterprets the trend for bright, clashing looks with a refined lady-like silhouette. The collection features modern classic cuts as well as pleating and draping.
